What gutter cleaning covers
Clogged gutters overflow, soak your siding and can freeze solid in winter. I clean gutters for homes across Kelowna and West Kelowna, usually once leaf season is over.
I scoop out the gutters by hand, check the downspouts are draining, and clean up anything that drops on the ground.
Why fall is the time, before freeze up
Late fall in Kelowna and West Kelowna brings cold nights and warmer days, so water freezes and thaws over and over. When gutters are packed with leaves and needles, that water has nowhere to go. It sits, freezes and backs up, and it can spill over onto your siding and around your foundation.
The best time to clean is after most of the leaves have dropped and before the first hard freeze. Homes with big trees or pines overhead often need a second cleaning, since needles keep coming down after the leaves are done.
While I am up there, I watch how the downspouts drain and look for sections that seem loose or leaky. If I see something, I tell you.
