What lawn mowing covers
Regular lawn mowing keeps grass healthy and the yard looking cared for all season. I mow at the right height for Okanagan heat, so the lawn doesn't scorch in July.
Weekly or biweekly lawn care is available in Kelowna and West Kelowna, including Rutland and Lakeview Heights.
Weed whacking and edging along obstacles included
Every mow comes with weed whacking along fences, beds, walkways and around trees, the spots a mower can't reach. Then clippings get blown off the hard surfaces.
Fall Lawn Mowing & Leaf Mulching

Fall lawn care is about more than keeping the grass tidy. Once leaves start covering lawns in Kelowna and West Kelowna, the right mowing approach helps get your yard ready for winter.
When the leaves are dry and the layer is light, mowing over them chops them into small pieces. Those pieces settle between the grass blades, break down, and return organic matter and nutrients to the soil. This only works when the mower can chop them fine enough that they don't sit on top of the lawn as a layer.
That doesn't mean every leaf should stay on the grass. Collecting and removing them is usually the better call when:
- The leaves are wet or heavy
- They've piled up in thick layers
- There are too many for the mower to chop into small pieces
- The mulched leaves would clump or cover too much of the grass
Too much leaf cover blocks sunlight and can leave the lawn struggling underneath.
When conditions and the mower allow it, I can also mow with a collection bag and pick up leaves in the same pass. That tidies the lawn and can cut down on a separate leaf removal visit, but how much it picks up depends on how many leaves there are and how wet they are. It won't always get every leaf.
A few fall mowing basics: I don't scalp the grass short just to get ready for winter, I keep the height right for your grass and the season, and I don't mow when the lawn is soaked, frozen or otherwise not safe to cut. The right approach depends on your lawn, how many leaves are down and the weather.
I can mow and mulch light leaf cover, collect leaves while mowing, or pair mowing with leaf removal and a full fall yard cleanup. Get in touch and I'll help you figure out the right approach for your property.
